Mobot isn't really an application, it's service used by other applications. Mobot, as far as I can tell, is one of the leaders in mobile visual search technology (at least, they were a year ago). MVS allows a user to take a picture with her cameraphone that is then read by "visual matching technology". Unlike services that require a 2D "smart code" (kind of like a bar code), MVS can read a picture of just about anything. For example, a user could take a picture of a movie billboard, send it to Fandango, and receive information about the movie. This has significant marketing implications, as it allows companies to generate interactive advertising using existing, cheap print ads and technology that vast numbers of users already have.
