Vindigo was a location-based service for Palm Pilots (and later PocketPC devices and BREW phones) aimed at heping you find the closest places to eat + shop + play based on your current location. Since Palms back in the day (2001) we not connected to any network (imagine!), you'd tell Vindigo your whereabouts by choosing the intersection closest to you (e.g. Broadway + Waverly). Users would download a specific version of Vindigo depending on which city you were in (Manhattan vs. Brooklyn vs. Chicago vs. Boston, etc) and results would be sorted by distance (closest to you first). Vindigo was one of (if not *the* first) consumer LBS (location based service) to pick up any type of critical mass.
