Mobile Dating

Quick idea: Users join by completing a basic profile using their mobile phone or the web. They can chat with random people on the network or with people who match with what they want on their potential date. Users can check-in to places to see if there are other users in that space and chat with them. You can activate alerts to tell you when there is someone with a similar profile to yours. Users can upload pictures of themselves to be displayed by others. Users can also browse profiles.

Who's it for: Anyone who wants to find a date or simply chat with other people in the community or people near them.

When will people use it: They can activate it whenever they want to chat with someone or browse through profiles. I will also send one profile a day to users who match up to try to stimulate a conversation between them.

What data will I need: I'll need a database to track users, personal profiles, what they are looking for, pictures, geotags, incoming and outgoing photos. I'll also need to use a geocoder to convert the street addresses people send in to latitude + longitude points I can place on a map.

Syntax: Blank messages will send short instructions. Users will interact by replying to messages I send out - for example, when creating a profile, I will send a message like this: "Reply 1 for Male or 2 for Female" or "Reply with 1 for blond, 2 for brunette, 3 for red-head or 4 for don't care". Other commands such as RANDOM for a random chat, NEAR for people nearby, MATCH for profiles that match what they are looking for and so on...
